And just like that, Christmas is over for another year! If you’re lucky, you might have actually found the time to enjoy it. Thankfully, amidst all the chaos that’s as synonymous with the holidays as baubles and turkey, our residents across Rosturk House and Peacehaven got well into the festive spirit thanks in part to all the hard work and organisation carried out by our own fleet of Santa’s little helpers – our dedicated and wonderful staff. Regularly organising events and activities to get everyone feeling holly and jolly, our staff and carers helped spread the Christmas cheer throughout December so that the residents were overwhelmed by the spirit of Christmas, with the help of the odd glass of bubbly here and there of course. Find out all about how Peacehaven and Rosturk House celebrated the holidays below!
No sooner than you feel like you’ve just taken the decorations down and boxed them away, it’s time to get them all back out again. As much of a task as it can sometimes feel, the payoff is always worth it when you transform your home into a winter wonderland. And that’s exactly what Peacehaven looked like after the team got to work getting all the tinsel and baubles out, making our gorgeous tree come to life! The transformation was of course appreciated by the residents, who immediately got swept up with the festive feeling. And with Peacehaven looking as good as this, who can blame them?
That wasn’t the only tree at Peacehaven though, local charity group, The Angels’ Share kindly donated TWO Christmas trees to occupy the Peacehaven garden. Based in Lundin Links, The Angels’ Share are a charity group who offer all kinds of amazing support and aid to those who require it. Everyone at Peacehaven was incredibly grateful for the Angels to take time out of their busy schedule to stop by and donate the trees, as well as helping to plant and decorate the trees with all the lights, tinsel, and baubles you could possibly need. They didn’t stop there though, they also arranged for local carol singers to swing by with none other than Santa himself, where they put on a wee parade to switch on the lights! Thank you, Angels’ Share – you can find out more about them here.
Far from being a rare appearance, the carol singers were part of a fantastic line-up of musical guests who stopped by Peacehaven in the run-up to Christmas, providing the residents with plenty of encouragement for rockin’ around the Christmas tree. Local musicians George Aitkin and Michael popped into Peacehaven to belt out some classic Christmas bangers, everyone got the chance to sing and dance along to their favourite festive tunes. Meanwhile, local piper, Ian, braved the cold to expertly play a traditional mix of classics from the Peacehaven garden – much to the delight and appreciation of the onlooking Peacehaven crowd. Thanks guys for stopping by and helping to get everyone on their feet!
With so much build-up, the big day itself can often just pass in such a flash it’s difficult to take it all in! Thankfully, the residents at Peacehaven had a wonderful Christmas Day where they tucked into an incredible homemade Christmas dinner all prepared for by our wonderful kitchen staff. After beginning the morning opening gifts from family and friends, the residents went straight in for all the sweeties and selection boxes it’s a wonder they still had room for their lunch! But when it looked as good as it did, it’s easy to put mind over matter…
Meanwhile, the residents at Rosturk House also had a fantastic Christmas day where they were rewarded for all their good behaviour throughout the year with a visit from the big man in red to deliver them their gifts by hand himself. After working up an appetite opening up all their presents with a glass of bubbly to help, the residents all had a song and dance before tucking into a stunning 3-course home-cooked meal! If only every day was like Christmas day!
